The Brown Prince of Isfahan

Nineteenth-century Isfahan, woven at nine hundred knots to the square inch. The unusual palette — burnt orange against cream — gives the piece a warmth that reads remarkably well in contemporary interiors, which is precisely why designers ask for it.

Old 19th century Isfahan made rug.

Lobed medallion on an ivory-cream field with burnt-orange palmettes and arabesques; classic Isfahan medallion-and-corner drawing.
